SHA Introduces New Leadership and Announces 500 Job Vacancies
The Social Health Authority (SHA) has unveiled a major leadership shake-up by appointing four new directors after completing a competitive recruitment process that officially began on July 29, 2025.
In a statement released on Friday, September 12, the SHA Board, chaired by Abdi Mohamed, confirmed the appointments of Diana Marion, Golda Larissa Akolo, Mohammed Alio Ibrahim, and Jonathan Liesen as the new directors.
The appointments mark an important step in strengthening the Authority’s leadership as it pushes forward with reforms in the healthcare sector.
According to the Board, Diana Marion will take charge of Provider and Beneficiary Management. Marion is a well-known figure in Kenya’s health sector and is currently serving as the Secretary General of the Kenya Medical Association (KMA). Golda Larissa Akolo will be in charge of Benefits and Claims Management, a key docket that deals with how Kenyans access and claim healthcare benefits.
On the other hand, Mohammed Alio Ibrahim has been assigned to head Corporate Services, while Jonathan Liesen will serve as Director of Funds and Finance Management.
The SHA noted that these four individuals bring with them a wealth of experience and knowledge that will help the Authority achieve its overall mandate of protecting Kenyans against financial risks linked to healthcare and ensuring citizens can access quality health services.
“The Social Health Authority Board is delighted to announce the appointment of four new directors after a fair and transparent recruitment exercise that started on July 29, 2025,” read part of the press release. “This team’s expertise will be key in guiding SHA towards fulfilling its responsibility of providing financial protection for Kenyans while ensuring they receive quality healthcare.”
The four directors were chosen after an overwhelming response to the job advertisement. SHA received more than 400 applications, from which 38 candidates were shortlisted before the final selection was made.
500 Job Vacancies Announced
Alongside the new leadership appointments, SHA also opened its doors for 500 job opportunities across multiple departments. These vacancies range from entry-level to senior management roles, with some positions requiring only a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Grade D as the minimum qualification.
The Authority has encouraged Kenyans from different professional backgrounds to apply before the deadline of October 2, 2025. Importantly, the jobs being advertised are on permanent and pensionable terms, a move that is expected to attract thousands of applicants seeking long-term career stability.
Among the advertised positions, the largest number of vacancies lies in county offices and Huduma Centre operations.
These include 47 positions for Principal Registration and Compliance/Claims Management Officers, 183 Senior Registration and Compliance/Claims Management Officers, 99 Senior Registration and Compliance Officers, and 96 Senior Claims Management Officers.
Additionally, other vacancies have been created in specialized areas such as finance, human resources, administration, law, information and communication technology (ICT), customer experience, planning, supply chain management, and internal audit.
These roles are aimed at strengthening SHA’s internal capacity to manage the ambitious reforms it is currently rolling out in the healthcare sector.
With the dual announcement of new leadership and wide-ranging job opportunities, SHA has signaled its strong commitment to delivering quality healthcare, creating employment, and improving service delivery to Kenyans at both national and county levels.
