A 19-year-old man who was arrested after being found inside the Parliament Buildings without authorization has been released by the court.
According to reports, the young man, identified as Nelson Ibrahim Kidero, also known as Nelson Murithi, was apprehended on August 7, 2025, around 9:30 p.m., while loitering in the Bunge Towers car park. Police accused him of unlawfully entering the restricted premises.
The charge sheet stated: “On August 7, 2025, at about 9:30 p.m. in Nairobi County, you were found within the Bunge Towers car park without lawful authority.”
Kidero appeared before Milimani Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi on Thursday, October 9, where he denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty.
After listening to the case, Magistrate Ekhubi decided to release the teenager but issued a stern warning, cautioning him against repeating the same mistake.
“Do not repeat the same offence of going back to Parliament; I do not want to regret freeing you,” the magistrate told him firmly.
Kidero was handed over to his uncle, Kelvin Chege, who attended the court proceedings and requested the court to release his nephew into his care.
“I’m releasing you to your uncle, Mr. Chege, but this comes with conditions. You must not commit any other offence, and Mr. Chege, ensure you do not let him out of your sight,” Magistrate Ekhubi instructed.
Ruto’s ‘Son’ Claim
During a previous court appearance on September 25, 2025, Kidero made a surprising statement, claiming that he was the biological son of President William Ruto.
He further alleged that he played a role in helping the Head of State ascend to power.
“My mother is called Angeline Muriithi. William Samoei Ruto is my father. I helped him to become the president, but I think there’s a mistake going on in Parliament,” Kidero told the court.
His claims shocked the courtroom, prompting the magistrate to express concern about his mental well-being.
The court subsequently directed his family to take him for medical evaluation and care, emphasizing the importance of offering him close attention and support.
“Since this young man was brought before the court, efforts have been made to reach his family. Please inform his father to show more concern for his son,” Magistrate Ekhubi added.
The case, which attracted public interest due to Kidero’s unusual claim of being President Ruto’s son, has since raised questions about the young man’s mental health and background.
The court’s decision to release him under supervision highlights the need for compassion and family involvement in addressing his situation rather than pursuing harsh punishment.
