The government has unveiled a new round of leadership changes across multiple state corporations, marking the latest wave of appointments by various Cabinet Secretaries.
The changes involve key figures including Geoffrey Ruku, Julius Ogamba, Aden Duale, Davis Chirchir, Eric Mugaa, and William Kabogo.
In a gazette notice released recently, Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku announced four new appointments to the Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA).
The newly appointed members to the GRA Board of Directors are Emma Wambui Mbugua, Anne Derasso Illo, Fredrick Odumo Nying’uro, and Valerie Lomosi.
These appointments, which will run for a period of three years, come alongside the revocation of previous board members Ernest Kamau, Anne Too, Innocent Muganda, Janet Oben, and Edwin Gikunju.
This reshuffle is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership and improve governance in various parastatals.
At the Ministry of Education, Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba appointed Professor Kellen Kathure Kiambati as the new Chairperson of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) Board.
Professor Kiambati will serve a four-year term, taking over leadership at a time when the government is focused on enhancing skills training and technical education to empower the youth.
In the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, CS William Kabogo appointed Stephen Njuki as a member of the Board of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK).
Njuki, who previously vied for the Mbeere North parliamentary seat and finished second to Geoffrey Ruku in the 2022 elections, is expected to serve on the board for three years. Ruku later joined the Cabinet following his appointment by President William Ruto.
Meanwhile, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale made changes within his ministry by appointing Edwin Gikunju—one of the officials whose appointment at the GRA was revoked—as a member of the Board of Directors at the Kenya Institute of Primate Research (KIPR).
Gikunju, who was once shortlisted for the position of Principal Secretary, will now serve a three-year term in his new role.
In a similar reshuffle, Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation CS Eric Mugaa appointed Innocent Muganda, another former GRA board member, to the National Water Harvesting and Storage Authority.
Muganda will also serve a three-year term, with his appointment seen as part of the ministry’s efforts to boost water resource management and sustainability.
At the Ministry of Roads and Transport, Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir appointed Anne Too to the Board of Directors of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA).
Too, the daughter of the late long-serving CID Director Noah Nondin arap Too, will serve for three years. Her appointment is expected to strengthen the leadership at KCAA, which plays a key role in overseeing aviation safety and standards in Kenya.
In addition, Attorney General Dorcas Oduor announced the appointment of Ernest Kamau as a member of the Board of Directors at the Business Registration Service (BRS). Kamau will also serve for three years, taking over responsibilities aimed at improving business registration and corporate governance in the country.
At the same time, AG Oduor revoked the appointments of the members of the Selection Panel that was responsible for nominating candidates to the Waqf Commission, signaling further restructuring within the agency’s oversight process.
The sweeping changes across these state corporations reflect the government’s ongoing commitment to injecting new leadership, improving accountability, and ensuring effective service delivery across public institutions.
