Cabinet Secretaries Aden Duale, Julius Ogamba, and Davis Chirchir have announced a series of new appointments and reappointments to various state boards and university councils, aiming to strengthen governance and oversight in key sectors.
On the health front, CS Aden Duale, in a notice published in the official government gazette, confirmed the appointment of five new members to the Kenya Board of Mental Health.
The newly appointed members include Linett Ongeri, Simon Githui, Harun Hassan, and Dennis Wamalwa, all of whom will serve three-year terms.
Additionally, Beatrice Maingi has been reappointed to the board for another three-year term, continuing her contribution to the oversight of mental health services in Kenya.
CS Duale also made significant appointments and reappointments to the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB). He reappointed Isha Anand and Bernard Kimutai Maiyo as members, ensuring continuity in leadership.
New members Maurice K’Odhiambo, Tadudi Aly Omar, and Serah Mutu Kisilu were also brought on board, each serving three-year terms.
These board members will play a critical role in supporting the PPB’s mandate, which includes regulating the safety, quality, and effectiveness of medicines, medical devices, and pharmaceutical services across the country.
Their responsibilities also extend to overseeing the licensing and inspection of pharmacies, hospitals, and laboratories, registering pharmaceutical professionals, and monitoring the production and distribution of medicines to ensure public safety.
In the transport sector, CS Davis Chirchir appointed Anne Njeri Gitau as a member of the Aeronautical Search and Rescue Committee for a one-year term.
The appointment, effective from November 7, 2025, was made under the powers granted by regulation 15 (2) (m) of the Civil Aviation (Aeronautical Search and Rescue) Regulations.
This committee plays a crucial role in coordinating search and rescue operations, ensuring aviation safety, and responding to emergencies in Kenya’s airspace.
On the education front, CS Julius Ogamba appointed Dr. Charles Momanyi and Irene Chebet Chesire as members of the Council of Alupe University, each for a three-year term, starting November 7, 2025.
As council members, they will provide strategic direction and oversight to the university, which is the highest governing body of the institution.
Their responsibilities will include participating in the development and approval of institutional policies, reviewing statutes, and ensuring the university operates in compliance with national laws and regulations.
Their expertise is expected to strengthen the governance framework and help the university achieve its educational and administrative goals.
These appointments reflect the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure that state boards, regulatory authorities, and university councils are staffed with qualified and experienced individuals capable of enhancing oversight, efficiency, and service delivery in their respective sectors.
