Popular Tahidi High Actor Bilal Wanjau Dies

Renowned Kenyan actor Bilal Wanjau has passed away, leaving fans, colleagues, and the entertainment industry in deep mourning.

A close friend who spoke to Newshub.co.ke confirmed that the beloved actor died after battling a long-term illness that had affected his health for several months.

Actress and industry friend Sandra Dacha also shared the sad news in an emotional social media post, describing Wanjau as a gifted and remarkable performer who brought life to every role he played.

“It is with profound sorrow that I announce the untimely passing of my colleague Bilal Wanjau this early morning due to complications,” Dacha wrote, expressing her heartbreak.

Although an official statement detailing the exact cause of death has not yet been released, early reports suggest that the actor may have developed health complications linked to diabetes in the months before his passing.

For many Kenyans, Bilal Wanjau was more than just an actor — he was a cherished part of their childhood.

His humorous, lively, and sometimes completely hilarious performances on the iconic Tahidi High series on Citizen TV made him a household name and a favorite among fans of local television.

Beyond Tahidi High, Bilal built an impressive career as an award-winning actor and director. He showcased his talent across different platforms, including film, television dramas, and stage productions.

His versatility allowed him to shine in various Kenyan projects and even earn roles in international productions — among them a Bollywood film, which highlighted his global appeal and artistic range.

Bilal Wanjau leaves behind a legacy of creativity, passion, and dedication to the craft of storytelling. His impact on Kenya’s entertainment industry will be remembered for years to come.
