Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has confirmed that he will not be able to host a group of young people who had planned to visit his Ichaweri residence in Gatundu this Sunday.
In a statement released on Sunday, February 22, Kanze Dena, Uhuru’s Secretary of Communication, stated that the former president is not in a position to receive the group at this time.
She emphasized that anyone intending to arrange such visits should formally communicate with his office in advance to allow for proper planning and necessary arrangements.
Despite declining the visit, Dena highlighted that the former president remains open to engaging with Kenyans on important national matters. “The Office of the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, has noted reports about a planned visit by a group of young people to his residence in Ichaweri, Gatundu,” the statement read.
The statement further emphasized that President Uhuru believes in the importance of dialogue between generations. He sees such conversations as vital in shaping Kenya’s future and welcomes opportunities for meaningful and constructive engagement with young people.
Dena added that the former president continues to value the energy, ideas, and patriotism of the youth, which they have demonstrated in recent years, and he remains committed to supporting their initiatives where possible.
This clarification follows a previous statement by the Jubilee Party, which dismissed claims that it had organized a Gen-Z event at Uhuru’s home.
On Saturday, February 8, the party described these reports as misleading and stressed that they did not reflect the views or plans of the former president.
The Jubilee Party urged the public to verify information only through the party’s official and verified social media channels. The party also reiterated its commitment to engaging with youth through proper channels and structured platforms.
“We wish to remind all our officials, members, and the general public that any formal communication regarding the Party Leader is issued exclusively through the verified Office of the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya and the official Jubilee Party platforms,” the statement added, reinforcing the need for accurate communication and official channels.
This announcement clarifies that while informal visits cannot be accommodated, President Uhuru remains supportive of youth engagement and continues to encourage constructive dialogue to promote unity, respect, and national development.
