WhatsApp to Introduce New Feature for Specific Messages

WhatsApp to Roll Out New Feature for Message Reminders

WhatsApp, the world’s most popular messaging app, is preparing to launch a powerful new feature that will solve a problem many users face every day — forgetting to respond to important messages.

In today’s digital world, WhatsApp has become an essential tool for both personal and professional conversations. But with the constant flow of texts, images, and updates, it’s easy to lose track of messages that need a reply later.

To tackle this, WhatsApp is working on a message reminder feature that will help users keep up with their chats and respond at the right time.

The feature is designed for those moments when you receive a text that doesn’t need an immediate reply, but you also don’t want to forget about it. Instead of relying on memory or third-party apps, users will now have a built-in reminder system right inside WhatsApp.

At the moment, the feature is still being tested and is available only to a small group of iOS users. Interestingly, it does not require users to be on the beta version of the app, which suggests that WhatsApp is slowly rolling it out in phases before a wider release.

How the Reminder System Works

The process is simple and user-friendly. When a user receives a message they want to be reminded of, they can long-press on the specific message to open an action menu. From this menu, they can select the option to set a reminder.

Once a reminder is created, the app will send a notification at the chosen time, similar to how an alarm clock or calendar reminder works. According to reports by WABetaInfo, messages with reminders will show a small bell icon on the chat bubble, making it easy for the user to know that a notification has been scheduled.

When the set time arrives, WhatsApp will send a notification containing the full text of the original message, including any attached media and details about the sender or chat. This ensures that users won’t need to scroll through their chats to remember the context.

Privacy and Design Features

WhatsApp has made it clear that all reminders will be processed locally on the user’s device. This means neither WhatsApp nor anyone else in the chat will have access to the reminder details. Privacy remains fully protected, in line with WhatsApp’s strong emphasis on secure communication.

To keep the app clean and easy to use, reminders will automatically disappear once the notification has been delivered. This prevents the app from being cluttered with old reminders, making the experience more streamlined.

Why the Feature Matters

For heavy WhatsApp users, this tool could become a game-changer. It will make it easier to manage follow-ups, personal tasks, and time-sensitive conversations without needing to leave the app or depend on outside tools.

Whether for business professionals trying to manage client messages, or everyday users keeping track of family and friends’ chats, the reminder system provides a practical solution.

Other Recent WhatsApp Updates

This development comes only a few weeks after WhatsApp introduced another exciting tool called Guest Chats. The new option allows WhatsApp users to chat one-on-one with people who don’t even have a WhatsApp account.

The process is simple — users send an invitation link, and the invited person can open it in their web browser to start chatting. No account creation or app download is required.

The Guest Chat feature works in a similar way to WhatsApp Web and is aimed at making the platform even more accessible to people worldwide.

Although the message reminder feature is still in the testing stage, it has already been spotted in the Android beta version 2.25.22.13. This is a strong signal that WhatsApp could release it publicly very soon. However, the company has not yet given an official launch date.
