Nairobi County Citizen Engagement and Customer Service Chief Officer, Geoffrey Mosiria, has called on President William Ruto to create a special government-funded package that would help young people aged 25 and above get married and begin their lives together.
In a detailed message shared on social media on 30th November 2025, Mosiria expressed full support for President Ruto’s recent remarks encouraging young adults to settle down in marriage.
He noted that while many young people are willing to build families, the biggest obstacle preventing them from doing so is financial instability.
Mosiria proposed the introduction of a government-backed “Starter Life Kit”, a one-year support program under the Ministry of Youth, aimed at helping young couples manage the high cost of starting a family.
He suggested that this fund would offer temporary but important relief, allowing young couples to establish stability and reduce the pressure that keeps many from marrying.
According to Mosiria, such support would not only motivate responsible living among the youth but also help reduce the growing trend of nightlife and clubbing culture in Nairobi.
He argued that many young people are simply overwhelmed by economic hardship, making it difficult for them to prioritize marriage and long-term commitments.
President Ruto made his comments on 29th November 2025 during the wedding of the son of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, where he urged all young adults above the age of 25 to stop engaging in excessive partying and instead focus on building families.
He encouraged youth to choose stability over constant club-hopping, saying this shift would contribute positively to society.
In his statement, Mosiria also reflected on his past experience serving in the Nairobi County Environment department, where he frequently conducted late-night inspections in various clubs across the city. He noted a concerning trend—more young women were found in nightclubs compared to young men.
He recalled seeing many girls actively partying while, according to him, “the boy child was mostly at home,” highlighting what he perceives as a growing imbalance in youth behavior and priorities.
Mosiria concluded by insisting that Kenya’s young people are ready to form families and play a meaningful role in building a more stable and prosperous nation—if only they can receive the right financial and social support from the government.
