The Government of Kenya is set to form a Prayer Strategy Team whose main mandate will be to pray for the 1,000 Kenyan police personnel awaiting deployment in Haiti soon.
First Lady Rachel Ruto revealed the idea, saying that the Prayer Strategy Team will be made up of pastors from Kenya, Haiti, and the United States of America who will pray for the officers hence come up with a spiritual solution.
“We have been hold up for a meeting for two days discussing the issues of Haiti because we felt as a national alter, we cannot allow our police officers to go to Haiti without prayer.”
Speaking at the Weston Hotel, the first lady stated that the cops will not be permitted to depart for Haiti without prayer because with prayer, anything is possible before God.
“So they have been strategising on a spiritual solution and prayer for our police as they prepare to go to Haiti and pray for the people of Haiti. We have met with pastors from Haiti, America and we want to see how the three countries will come together to pray because with prayer, everything is possible.
This comes only days after former US Envoy Dan Foote labeled Haiti as a death trap for 1000 Kenyan police personnel, stating that the Kenyan government was acting for financial gain without knowing the true situation in Haiti.
“You see the reticence on the part of the Kenyan public to send these guys and that makes me nervous. I believe that this is more of a cash grab by President Ruto whose country will receive a lot of money for doing this.”
However, President Ruto reiterated the fact that he will ensure the 1000 Kenyan police personnel are ready for deployment once the Haiti transition Government is in place to serve as an anchor for the operation.
