Has former KISS FM radio queen Kamene Goro made a grand return to radio?
NRG radio through it’s social media channels, unveiled the renowned media personality Monday April 1. April 1, has long been connected with April Fools’ Day.
Our media team at Buzzhub Kenya has been keeping an eye on the events as they unfolded.
We therefore confirm that Kamene has now joined NRG’s Transit show which airs daily from 3 to 7 pm. The radio queen will be hosting the show alongside three other notable media personalities or queens – King Kalala, Reedah Yvonne and DJ Lisney.
Announcing the news via social media, NRG radio confirmed their latest appointment. The media house made it clear that this was indeed a true story and not just another April Fools’ prank.
Kamene Goro later joined the Transit show Monday afternoon marking her first day at her new workplace – NRG Radio.
In an earlier post, NRG radio had reported that Kamene was joining as the station’s CEO. This elicited mixed reactions from online users who alleged it was an April fools’ day prank.
While some fans congratulated her, others remained skeptical, fearing a fun trick.
However, after following closely we believe Kamene Goro has indeed joined NRG radio as a radio presenter and not as CEO as earlier reported. Any sane person would be keen enough to notice that the earlier report of Kamene joining as CEO was nothing but an April Fools’ prank.
In addition, the fact that Kamene was unveiled as Radio presenter and not CEO cleared all doubts as far as the earlier post is concerned.
Previously, Kamene disputed claims that she was sacked by Kiss FM, as had been reported. Kamene expressed sadness that her contract with the media company had not been renewed.
Kamene and her then-co-host Andrew Kibe joined Kiss FM from NRG Radio in 2019.
Kibe would later be fired by the station in June 2020, paving way for comedian Jalang’o who joined Kamene to lead the morning show.
Jalang’o left the station in February 2022 to contest for the Lang’ata parliamentary seat, which he won.
Moments after Jalang’o left, Kamene received a new co-host, comedian Oga Obinna, who started in March of 2022. Surprisingly, Obinna quit Kiss FM immediately after Kamene’s departure.
