Police Officer tragically dies in suspected suicide mission after shooting himself in the chest in Suna West sub county, Migori County.

Investigation into the Sunday morning incident, where Constable Gibson Omari, 31, shot himself in front of his wife and children, is currently being conducted by the police.

Prior to his fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound, he had been on night patrols in the area with another officer.

The deceased, as reported by Nyatike subcounty police commander Dorothy Migarusha, was swiftly taken to Life Care Hospital, where he passed away during treatment.

Police have stated that the motive remains unknown at the time.

Migarusha mentioned that the deceased’s wife informed the police that Omari entered the house and, without engaging her, proceeded to shoot himself.

The deceased’s body was transferred to the mortuary at Migori Level 4 Hospital, awaiting autopsy and further police investigations.

In other another incident, police are probing the homicide of a 40-year-old woman allegedly murdered by her 24-year-old lover in what appears to be a love triangle.

Mbuvi, the suspect, has confessed to the murder of his partner, Serah, following a dispute believed to be connected to a love triangle.

Kyethani Location Chief, Mwikali Musili, who verified the incident, clarified that Mbuvi, who was employed by Serah, was romantically involved with her until another individual entered the scene, resulting in disputes.

After committing the heinous act, the suspect purportedly admitted to the murder, prompting angry neighbors to confront him.

Police faced challenges in rescuing him from the enraged mob demanding justice.

He was subsequently transported to Mwingi Level 4 Hospital for medical attention before being formally processed and brought before the court.
