
A prisoner who escaped from Nakuru Level Five Hospital while receiving treatment has been caught by police officers.
County Police Commander of Nakuru, Mr. Samuel Ndanyi, confirmed his arrest, stating that Cheruyot was apprehended by the police after receiving information from the public.
“The incident of the prisoner escaping from the hospital was reported at Kaptembwo police station. It took efforts from detectives of the Criminal Investigations Department (DCI) collaborating with police from Nakuru and Molo to search for and apprehend him. He has already been handed over to the prison department,” stated Mr Ndanyi.
Cheruyot, who was serving his sentence at Nakuru Maximum Prison, escaped from Nakuru Referral Hospital on Monday morning while awaiting surgery on his arm.
It is believed that he was apprehended in the Keep Left area in Molo town, dressed in civilian clothes and carrying prison uniforms in a paper bag.
Cheruyot was found with a mobile phone which helped in tracing his existence.
He is to be arraigned in court for regarding his escape attempt case.
