Omar Keah, the driver to Kilifi North MP Owen Baya, is currently fighting for his life in hospital following a harrowing accident on the Kilifi Malindi highway.
The incident occurred around 7:30 pm as Keah was en route to pick up the MP at Malindi airport.
Keah was behind the wheel of a Mercedes S class belonging to the MP when tragedy struck.
Kilifi North Sub-county police commander Kenneth Maina confirmed the details of the accident, stating that Keah collided with a lorry while overtaking.
The impact caused the vehicle to roll several times before bursting into flames, leaving it completely burnt.
MP Owen Baya recounted the events leading up to the accident, mentioning that he had contacted Keah at 6 pm while boarding a plane in Nairobi, instructing him to meet him at Malindi airport upon his arrival.
However, upon reaching Malindi, Baya received news of the accident involving his driver.
Baya expressed gratitude to the Good Samaritans who rescued Keah from the wreckage and rushed him to Kilifi County referral hospital.
Despite suffering a fracture on his right arm, Keah is said to be responding well to treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU).
