The recent statements by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua have stirred significant controversy among various political factions in Kenya. Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has taken a bold stance, addressing the Mt. Kenya community with fervent remarks.

In a recent public address, Murkomen asserted, “DP Rigathi Gachagua sio Deputy wa Wakikuyu,” emphasizing that Gachagua’s role is not limited to representing the Kikuyu community alone. His responsibilities extend to serving the interests of all Kenyans. Murkomen’s comments come in response to what he perceives as a growing trend of ethnic-based politics that threatens national unity.

Murkomen went further to lecture the Mt. Kenya people, urging them to look beyond ethnic lines and support leaders who prioritize national interests. He argued that the focus should be on development and progress rather than divisive tribal politics. “Kenya needs leaders who think beyond their tribes and work towards a unified, prosperous nation,” he remarked passionately.

The Transport CS also criticized those using ethnic affiliations to gain political mileage, warning that such strategies could lead to the fragmentation of the nation. He called on the citizens of Mt. Kenya to rally behind leaders who advocate for inclusivity and national cohesion.
