Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has announced the formation of a team aimed at addressing grievances raised by former President Uhuru Kenyatta, unveiling its members.
Speaking during a TV interview on Tuesday, Kuria emphasized that assembling the team earlier was not feasible due to the unconventional nature of certain issues.
“The retired president’s home will become a gazetted government office, an unconventional move. Additionally, I revealed that the team comprises Interior CS Kithure Kindiki, myself, and Police IG Japhet Koome, with the team being chaired by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei,” stated the CS.
In the interview, the CS highlighted that they were briefed by the President regarding the concerns raised by Uhuru.
“Uhuru raised concerns with the number of security assigned to him, saying they were not enough to protect him and his properties in Nairobi, Kiambu, and Nakuru.”
President Ruto has reportedly directed the Police IG to tackle the security issue, according to sources.
Ruto had earlier on established a dedicated team to address the array of retirement benefits issues highlighted by the Office of the Fourth President, Uhuru Kenyatta.
Headed by Felix Koskei, the Head of Public Service, the team has been tasked with promptly resolving all raised concerns, including matters pertaining to the location of the retired President’s office and the necessary staff allocation.
State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed revealed that President Ruto took this decisive step following a direct conversation with former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The discussions are centered on the pressing need to ensure the smooth facilitation of functions within the retired President’s office, prompting Ruto to take swift action by constituting the expert team.
