Kasmuel Speaks After ODM Clarifies Its Youth Leadership Structure
Political activist Kasmuel McOure has spoken out just a few days after the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) clarified the leadership of its Youth League.
His remarks come barely four days after the party moved to settle confusion surrounding the position.
On Saturday, November 15, ODM publicly confirmed that Johnmark Ketorah is the official President of the ODM Youth League. The party dismissed reports circulating online suggesting that Kasmuel had been appointed to the same position.
“The President of the ODM Youth League is Honourable Johnmark Ketorah. Ignore any publication circulating containing misleading information on the same,” read part of the party’s statement.
ODM released the clarification after a publication shared during the party’s 20th Anniversary celebrations listed various individuals, including Kasmuel, as leaders holding different roles within the movement. This created uncertainty, prompting both the party and Kasmuel to address the issue.
Speaking on Tuesday, November 18, Kasmuel said he had no problem with the clarification and noted that he is ready to serve the party in whatever capacity he is assigned.
He explained that his commitment to ODM is driven by passion and loyalty, not a desire for positions or recognition.
He emphasized that he values the hard work behind running a vibrant political movement, especially one he deeply believes in.
“There is no work within the ODM party that I consider too small for me. When you join ODM, you immediately understand the amount of effort required to sustain a movement, especially when you genuinely love it,” Kasmuel said.
He added that he does not chase titles and is instead focused on meaningful contributions.
“Let no one—no pretender of convenience—think that there is any duty I would consider beneath me. In ODM, we do not chase titles. We ask ourselves one thing only: how can we best deliver for our people?”
Kasmuel further stated that he prefers to keep a low profile within the party and allow those in leadership positions to exercise their authority without interference. However, he also urged the party to embrace young political talent and recognise those who work tirelessly behind the scenes.
“Our party needs workers—people who can defend it on all fronts. It needs the energy of the youth, it needs consensus builders, and it needs volunteers,” he noted.
Although he is widely known as an active supporter of ODM, the activist clarified that he has not been given any major official role within the party.
However, he acknowledged that last year, the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga appointed him to the Youth and Student League, a move that strengthened his position within the party’s youthful base.
The activist insisted that regardless of titles or positions, his loyalty to ODM remains strong, and his primary goal is to help the party grow by contributing wherever he is needed.
