President William Ruto has called upon Members of Parliament to expedite the passing of the Budget 2024-25, emphasizing its crucial role in delivering essential services to citizens.
Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony for Meru Maize Millers in Meru, Ruto highlighted the importance of the budget in ensuring that ordinary citizens have access to vital services, such as electricity.
“Hawa waheshimiwa nataka tafadhali niwahakikishieni tafadhali pitisheni budget haraka hawa wakulima wanahitaji stima,” (I urge these honorable members to please ensure the budget is passed quickly, these farmers need electricity), he emphasized.
The president outlined the government’s priorities for the upcoming financial year, focusing on infrastructure development including roads, electricity connectivity, and water. “We have already set this plan in our budget,” he affirmed.
Ruto also underscored the government’s commitment to support dairy farmers by guaranteeing a price of Sh50 per liter starting in July this year.
Meanwhile, National Treasury and Economic Planning Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung’u is scheduled to present the 2024-25 Financial Year budget at Parliament buildings later today at 3 pm.
This budget reading will unveil the government’s comprehensive plan for various sectors of the economy, outlining allocations and strategies aimed at achieving economic growth and improving public services.
