Four Killed After Bus Heading To Moyale From Nairobi Involved In Accident

In the wake of the tragic accident, local authorities have intensified efforts to ensure road safety in the region. Marsabit County Police Commander Nyambu Mwakio emphasized the importance of adherence to traffic regulations, urging drivers to exercise caution, especially during the early hours when visibility is often poor.

Witnesses at the scene recounted harrowing details, describing how the bus veered off the road before coming to a halt. Emergency responders, including the police and medical teams, acted swiftly to rescue the injured and transport them to Marsabit County Referral Hospital. Among those injured, several are reported to be in critical condition, requiring urgent medical attention.

The bus, operated by Soores company, was heavily damaged in the crash, with investigators examining the vehicle for any mechanical faults that could have contributed to the accident. Preliminary reports suggest that the driver may have lost control due to the slippery road conditions, exacerbated by the morning dew.

Family members of the victims have started arriving at the hospital, seeking information and offering support to their loved ones. The tragic loss has left the community in mourning, with many calling for improved road infrastructure and better safety measures to prevent future occurrences.

Local leaders have also voiced their concerns, urging the government to prioritize road maintenance and implement stricter safety protocols. The Marsabit-Moyale Road, a crucial link for travelers and traders between Nairobi and Moyale, has been the site of several accidents in recent years, highlighting the need for enhanced safety interventions.

Counseling services have been made available at Marsabit County Referral Hospital to support the survivors and the families of the deceased, helping them cope with the traumatic experience. As investigations continue, the authorities have promised to provide regular updates and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.

This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by road travel and the urgent need for collective action to safeguard the lives of passengers on Kenya’s roads.
