This Friday, family, friends, and community members gathered in solemn unity at Lang’ata Cemetery to lay to rest Njambi Wanjiru, a respected and cherished figure known for her significant contributions to the local arts and culture scene.
Njambi passed away on June 3, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of passion and service.
The burial service, a meticulously planned event, commenced at 8 a.m. at the Lee Funeral Home. The early morning air was tinged with the somber mood of those who had come to bid farewell. Mourners from various walks of life, including notable personalities from Nairobi’s cultural sphere, attended the service to honor Njambi’s memory.
Njambi’s Mothers’ Tribute
Stella Wambui Kanogo, mourning the loss of her daughter Mary Njambi, fondly known as Jahmby Fayah Mummah, wrote a heartfelt tribute describing her as a remarkable woman whose vibrant spirit left a lasting impact on all she encountered.
Reflecting on her daughter’s resilience and unwavering positivity, Stella expressed profound sorrow and disbelief shared by their family.
Stella reminisced about Njambi’s resilience, describing her as someone who faced life’s challenges with the heart of a lioness and the grace of a queen. She highlighted Njambi’s unwavering optimism and her ability to emerge stronger from adversity.
Stella also expressed how Njambi was not only a daughter and sister but also their protector, always vigilant and supportive. She fondly recalled Njambi as her biggest cheerleader, best friend, and confidante, emphasizing their deep bond and affectionate nickname for each other, ‘Bebe’.
