A 21-year-old man, Evans Kiratu, has tragically died following injuries sustained during youth-led demonstrations against the controversial Finance Bill 2024.
Kiratu, who suffered severe internal bleeding, was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) by a Good Samaritan but succumbed to his injuries before his family could arrive.
According to his family, Kiratu was hit in the groin by a teargas canister during the protests.
According to a certain publication, Rachel Waithanje, Kiratu’s aunt, revealed, “We learned of the incident from a Good Samaritan who found him on the road in critical condition. He was hit by a teargas canister in his private parts and was unable to get help in time.”
This tragic event follows the shooting of Rex Masai by a plain-clothed officer in Nairobi’s CBD, sparking public outrage and demands for accountability.
