Former radio presenter Joyce Gituro officially sworn in as the Chief Officer of Public Communications and E-government for Machakos County.
The ceremony took place on Monday, July 1, 2024, and marked a significant transition for Gituro, who previously held a prominent career in broadcasting.
The swearing-in ceremony, presided over by Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, followed a thorough vetting and approval process by the Machakos County Assembly.
Gituro, known for her illustrious career spanning over 15 years in media, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the public in her new role.
“I have so much to say about this appointment, but for now, allow me to thank Almighty God for His mercies that are new every morning, Hon Wavinya Ndeti for believing in me, my dear daughter and two sons for loving me always, my immediate and extended family members for being there, and all my friends for their patience,”
Gituro’s career in media began at Royal Media Services, where she started as an On-Air Host and climbed the ranks to become a Transmission Controller at Radio Citizen, eventually moving on to become the Brand Manager.
After leaving Royal Media in 2018, she took on the role of Head of Programs at Mediamax Network, overseeing six radio stations before leaving in 2019. Gituro’s last media stint was at Radio Jambo, where she hosted the popular Sunday show “Injili Jumapili” (Gospel Sunday) until she decided to pursue a new path in business.
Governor Wavinya Ndeti, who also oversaw the swearing-in of two other chief officers—Francis Munyambu for the Department of Inspectorate and Emergency Services and Dr. Juliana Ndunge for the Department of Sewerage, Sanitation, and Waste Management—extended her best wishes to the newly appointed officers.
“I take this opportunity to wish them the very best, God’s guidance and wisdom as they serve the great people of Machakos County in fulfilling our clarion call, ‘Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni’ (Food on the Table, Money in the Pocket),” Ndeti said.
