At least six former Cabinet Secretaries have lost their positions in the new changes announced by President William Ruto today.
The ousted CSs are include;
Susan Nakhumicha (Health), Ezekiel Machogu (Education), Mithika Linturi (Agriculture), Zachary Njeru (Water), Kipchumba Murkomen (Transport), and Eliud Owalo (ICT). Additionally, Attorney General Justin Muturi has been replaced by former Trade CS Rebecca Miano.
In their stead, President Ruto has named Debra Mulongo Barasa as the new CS for Health, Julius Ogambo (Education), Andrew Karanja (Agriculture), Davis Chirchir (Transport), Eric Muriithi (Water), and Margaret Ndung’u (ICT).
The reshuffle follows the President’s dismissal of his cabinet secretaries on July 11, in response to widespread protests by Gen Zs across the country.
In dissolving the cabinet, the head of state promised to assemble a new team that would assist him in implementing crucial programs of his Kenya Kwanza administration.
While the new appointments signal a significant shift in the administration, it remains unclear if some of the former CSs will make a comeback.
“Further consultations are ongoing after which I will announce more names in due course,” the President added.
