On Saturday, July 20, 2024, unidentified individuals stormed the Kilimani offices of activist Boniface Mwangi, causing a stir in the area.
The intruders, who arrived on motorbikes, targeted Sema Ukweli, a justice and human rights media organization founded by Mwangi to expose societal injustices.
The incident was captured on video by James wa Njeri and shared on the X platform.
The footage shows the goons loitering around Mwangi’s office block, and Njeri noted in his post that the attack followed inciting posts by government bloggers against Mwangi.
Boniface Mwangi, responding on his official X account shortly after the incident, confirmed that the assailants were on the premises for about five minutes.
During this time, they issued numerous threats, including a vow to target Mwangi’s retirement home in Lukenya, Machakos County.
Mwangi reported the incident at Kilimani Police Station, where it was logged under Occurrence Book reference number 23 of 20/07/2024. The primary complaint was listed as creating a disturbance.
