Former Tahidi High Actress Alice Wairimu Passes Away

Kenya’s film and entertainment industry was hit with heartbreaking news on Sunday, April 20, following the untimely death of former Tahidi High actress Alice Wairimu, widely known by her stage name, Alicia Nimo.

According to sources close to the family, the young actress tragically passed away on the morning of Saturday, April 19, after collapsing at her home. Her health had reportedly taken a turn for the worse just days before her passing, following a brief illness.

A close friend confirmed the sad news to Kenyans.co.ke, revealing that although Alice had been unwell, her death came as a huge shock, especially since she did not have any known chronic or underlying health conditions.

Her family has confirmed her passing but has not yet revealed the exact illness she was suffering from.

Since the news broke, tributes have been pouring in from fans, fellow actors, and industry colleagues. Many are remembering Alice as a warm, kind-hearted person with a bright future ahead of her.

She was seen as a rising star in the entertainment scene, full of talent and potential.

Alice’s body has been moved to the Kenyatta University mortuary, where an autopsy is expected to be conducted to determine the exact cause of her death.

In the meantime, her family has created a WhatsApp group to help raise funds and support for her funeral arrangements and to give her a proper send-off.

Her sudden passing has left many in shock, especially because she was just starting to establish herself in Kenya’s mainstream television and film industry.

Alice began her career on Ebru TV before securing roles in notable productions such as Tahidi High, the Netflix series Cash Money, and a local show called Nduthi.

Alice Wairimu now becomes the second well-known Tahidi High cast member to die in recent months. Her death comes shortly after the passing of actor Xavier Jerry Nato, who succumbed to complications from kidney disease.

Nato’s death followed weeks after his family went public in November 2024, pleading with the public to assist with his mounting medical bills. They explained that he needed specialized care and treatment at the time.

Xavier Nato had made a significant impact in the local entertainment scene, both on screen and behind the scenes.

He was also deeply involved in theatre and was well-recognized for his outstanding contributions to the Kenya National Drama and Film Festival.

His creative work earned him several accolades, including the Kenya Theatre Awards’ inaugural Best Playwright Award in 2022.

The deaths of both Alice Wairimu and Xavier Nato have left a noticeable void in the industry, reminding Kenyans of the fragility of life and the importance of celebrating our homegrown talent while we still have them.
