President William Ruto has nominated Julius Migos Ogamba, the former running mate of Ezekiel Machogu in the 2022 Kisii gubernatorial race, as the new Cabinet Secretary for Education.
The nomination awaits parliamentary approval. Ogamba, who ran on a UDA party ticket with Machogu, lost to the current Governor Simba Arati in the 2022 elections.
Ogamba’s political aspirations also saw him run for the Kitutu Chache North parliamentary seat in the 2017 election.
In March 2023, he was appointed as the chairman of the Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen) Board, succeeding former Chief of Defence Forces Samson Mwathethe.
Ogamba holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi, a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law, and a Diploma in Law from the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies at the University of London.
The President’s move to re-nominate the six CSs caused uproar across social media platforms, with a majority of Kenyans questioning the basis of even sacking them in the first place if he was just going to bring them back after a week.
Some of the comments on X include;
“I think that was Ruto cabinet, not Kenyans Cabinet. Why reinstate some of you and we have millions of leaders here.”
“Congratulations CS Duale for once again emerging as the most incompetent Kenyan to join other incompetent individuals because that is the only explanation of how you made it back.”
“No, we don’t want you back. WE THE PEOPLE do not want you back! Your boss never listens, we did not ask for a reshuffle! Tuesday tupatane maandamanom.”
