A serious accident on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway has left 30 people injured, including 26 pupils from Rockside Primary School in Nairobi.
The incident occurred around 1:00 PM in the Sachangwan area when a rescue truck lost control and collided with the school bus, as well as two private vehicles traveling to Nakuru.
The truck eventually ended up in a ditch.
The pupils were returning from the National Music Festivals Competition held at Moi Girls High School in Eldoret.
Among the injured are three teachers and a cook who had accompanied the students to the event. They were taken to Molo Sub-County Hospital and Nakuru Level Five Hospital for treatment.
Fortunately, the occupants of the two private vehicles involved in the crash escaped without injuries.
The wreckage of the school bus and one of the private vehicles has been towed to Molo Police Station as investigations into the cause of the accident continue.
