The sports community is rallying to find Jane Hato, the captain of the Kenya U20 Women’s National Team, who has been reported missing since Wednesday evening.
Hato, who also plays for Kenya Police Bullets FC, was expected to join her teammates for the CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal Qualifiers in Ethiopia, but did not show up for the journey.
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) confirmed the situation, stating,
“The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has been made aware of the concerning situation involving Jane Hato, the captain of the Kenya U20 Women’s National Team and a player for Kenya Police Bullets FC.”
According to her teammates, Hato’s absence initially seemed like a minor delay.
However, as it continued into Thursday, concerns grew. Jane’s family, residing in Saika estate along Kangundo Road, has not heard from her since she left home on Wednesday evening.
Her mother, Anne Aluoch, noted that Jane was last seen at 7:30 PM in a navy blue tracksuit and orange sports shoes.
Kenya Police Bullets FC has joined the search effort, urging anyone with information on Hato’s whereabouts to report to the nearest police station.
“We urge anyone with information that could assist in locating Jane to come forward and contact the nearest police station,” the federation stated.
Anyone with information can also contact Jane’s mother at 0710 322 573 or Jectan from FKF at 0727 382 466.
