Governor Wavinya Ndeti of Machakos County has vehemently denied rumors of her arrest in the United Kingdom, calling them baseless and politically motivated.

The governor addressed these allegations head-on during a meeting with Machakos County Members of the County Assembly (MCAs).

Debunking the Rumors

These claims are nothing but malicious fake news

Wavinya Ndeti

Ndeti declared, challenging accusers to provide evidence. She confirmed her and her son’s safety in London, dismissing money laundering allegations as part of a smear campaign by political opponents.

Ndeti warned of legal consequences for rumor-mongers, stating,

We will identify and prosecute those spreading these dangerous falsehoods

She emphasized the potential harm such misinformation could cause to her family’s safety.

Political Support and Backing

Local political figures rallied behind the governor. Majority Leader Nicholas Nzioka and Deputy Speaker Stephen Mwanthi condemned the allegations as personal attacks and mockery.

County Secretary Muya Ndambuki called for a thorough investigation into the source and motives behind these claims.

Despite the controversy, Ndeti reaffirmed her commitment to transparent governance. She highlighted her administration’s achievements:

  1. Implementation of nearly 1,000 projects since August 2022
  2. Record revenue collection of Sh1.7 billion for FY 2023/24

We remain focused on improving the lives of Machakos residents

Wavinya Ndeti

Ndeti assured, refusing to let the allegations derail her mission.

We will not be distracted from our goal of bettering the lives of Machakos residents
