Safaricom, the country’s largest telecommunications provider, has announced a temporary suspension of its mobile money platform, M-Pesa, for over four hours on Tuesday night, citing scheduled system maintenance.

In a notice shared on social media, Safaricom stated that M-Pesa services will be unavailable from 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, until 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.

“To enable us to continue to give you the best M-Pesa experience, we have scheduled a system maintenance on Tuesday, September 10, from 11:00 p.m. to Wednesday, September 11, at 3:30 a.m.,” the company said.

During this period, key M-Pesa functions, including bill payments, money transfers, cash withdrawals, and airtime purchases, will be inaccessible.

However, all other services, including calls, SMS, and data, will remain fully operational.

Safaricom assured its customers that the maintenance is necessary to improve the efficiency of its services and urged users to complete any necessary transactions before the scheduled downtime.
