A dramatic incident unfolded in Nakuru when a man attempted to snatch a firearm from a police officer guarding a bank.
The man approached Officer Dakwin Kipsoo outside the bank, pretending to ask for directions. As she responded, he suddenly grabbed her AK-47 rifle by the muzzle, initiating a physical struggle.
The altercation quickly attracted the attention of bystanders, as well as another officer, Ambrose Kipruto, who was stationed inside the bank.
The man eventually realized he couldn’t secure the weapon and tried to flee toward Nakuru’s Central Business District.
However, his escape was short-lived. Both the officers and local residents quickly caught up with him. In the process, an angry mob assaulted the man before police restored order and arrested him.
He was taken to Naivasha Police Station, bearing injuries from the mob’s attack. Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) officers were later dispatched to document the scene.
The suspect is now in custody, and the police are investigating the motive behind his bold attempt to seize the officer’s weapon.
