Vincent Otieno Okwanyo, a resident of Kenya, recently appeared in court after being charged with cyber harassment for sending an offensive text message to Migori Woman Representative Fatuma Zainabu Mohammed.
The message, which allegedly read, “You are growing old, you should get a man to marry you,” was sent to the MP with the intent of insulting her.
According to prosecutors, the message was not only degrading but was also meant to tarnish the reputation of the politician, who is a respected figure in Migori County.
Okwanyo was brought before Magistrate BenMark Ekhubi at Milimani Law Courts, where he denied the charges.
The court set his bond at Ksh 100,000, with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 50,000, allowing him temporary freedom while awaiting trial.
The case, which has sparked public interest, is scheduled for a full hearing in the coming weeks, during which more details are expected to emerge.
