Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa recently faced backlash from residents in Bungoma during a public event, where they angrily confronted him over political frustrations.

The situation escalated when the crowd called for both President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to be impeached.

This reaction reflects growing public dissatisfaction with the government, particularly in light of economic hardships and controversial policies such as the Finance Bill, which Barasa had supported.

The tension at the event highlights the frustrations of local constituents who feel betrayed by their leaders.

Although Barasa attempted to address the crowd, their demands grew louder, and they urged him to take drastic political action against the current administration.

His support for the Finance Bill has already drawn public ire, with residents accusing him of prioritizing political interests over their needs.

Despite Barasa’s attempts to downplay the incident, the call to impeach top government officials points to a deeper discontent with the leadership and governance in the region(

Such incidents are not isolated, as similar protests have erupted across Kenya, with citizens demanding accountability from their elected leaders.

As economic pressure mounts, more politicians like Barasa are likely to face intense public scrutiny.
