Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo recently faced a hostile reception in the town’s central business district (CBD), where frustrated residents expressed their dissatisfaction with her performance over the past 12 years.
Chanting slogans like “Tumechoka na Fitina, Tumechoka na Siasa Duni” (meaning “We are tired of deceit, we are tired of poor politics”), the crowd voiced concerns about the senator’s perceived lack of development initiatives in the region.
The tension in Isiolo stems from long-standing grievances, with residents feeling that Dullo has not sufficiently addressed key issues such as stalled projects and limited public service improvements.
The situation escalated when the crowd became more aggressive, forcing Senator Dullo’s security team to step in and escort her away for safety.
This incident comes against the backdrop of political rivalry in Isiolo, where Senator Dullo has been entangled in disputes, particularly with Governor Abdi Guyo.
Earlier in the year, they clashed over audit queries regarding county funds, with Dullo accusing the governor of evading accountability.
This ongoing tension between the two leaders has further polarized the region’s political landscape, with residents now growing impatient and demanding more tangible results from their leaders.
