Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has gained attention for his outspoken criticism across Kenya’s political spectrum, including his critiques of President William Ruto, opposition leaders, and private companies involved in government affairs.
Salasya has accused President Ruto of prioritizing religious displays over economic reforms, arguing that increased taxation and the removal of subsidies are worsening the public’s financial strain.
He voiced disappointment in the President’s religious rallies, suggesting they are used as distractions from unmet promises to reduce Kenya’s high cost of living and promote economic growth.
Salasya hasn’t spared opposition leaders either, particularly Raila Odinga, whom he accuses of losing focus on true opposition by collaborating with the government.
Salasya argues that Odinga’s alignment with Ruto, seen through the nomination of ODM members to high government positions, weakens the opposition’s ability to advocate for common Kenyans.
The MP expressed frustration that key ODM figures, who could have strengthened youth-driven political activism, have joined Ruto’s administration.
Moreover, Salasya has taken aim at international figures like Gautam Adani, expressing concerns over the economic implications of allowing private corporations significant influence in Kenya’s local markets.
He has suggested a need for stringent regulations to ensure these partnerships don’t exploit Kenyans. Salasya’s relentless critiques highlight his stance against political and corporate interests that he perceives as compromising Kenya’s economic stability and political integrity.
