Today, protests erupted at Chuka University, leading to serious injuries for three police officers who were responding to the situation.

The unrest began as students expressed their grievances, which escalated into violence.

Reports indicate that students vandalized property, including burning a university bus and damaging local businesses.

The protests were sparked by ongoing frustrations over the university’s administration, particularly related to the recent student elections.

A significant dispute arose regarding alleged unfair practices and lack of transparency during the electoral process, leading to tensions between the students and the authorities.

In response to the chaos, police used tear gas and other means to disperse the crowds, resulting in a confrontational atmosphere.

As a precaution, the university administration announced the suspension of all learning activities and ordered students to vacate the campus immediately.

The situation remains tense, with authorities monitoring the area closely. This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by educational institutions in managing student dissent while ensuring safety.
