Kwale county leaders defending Poverty After Morara’s exposed Them! Watch

Kwale County leaders are facing growing criticism after lawyer and activist Morara Kebaso spotlighted systemic issues contributing to the region’s entrenched poverty.

Kebaso, known for his bold accountability campaigns, has exposed alleged failures in development initiatives, describing them as unfulfilled promises that perpetuate poverty.

These revelations have placed local leadership under scrutiny, especially as residents voice frustration over historical land injustices and inadequate resource management

Residents in Kwale have long struggled with land disputes, which have seen ancestral lands grabbed by private developers or mismanaged by government officials.

Displaced communities complain of being resettled in unsuitable areas or inadequately compensated, further trapping them in cycles of poverty.

Despite the presence of wealth-generating industries, such as titanium mining, locals argue that they have not benefitted from royalties or employment opportunities.

These disparities continue to fuel discontent, as many feel excluded from the county’s economic growth.

In response to these grievances, some leaders have downplayed the accusations, insisting that ongoing efforts aim to address historical challenges.

However, critics like Kebaso argue that these initiatives lack transparency and fail to prioritize the needs of marginalized groups.

The situation underscores a broader call for accountability and sustainable development strategies to improve living conditions in Kwale and restore trust between the community and its leaders.
