Politician Detained After Son Enters Police Station, Kills Man and Mutilates His Private Parts
A politician has been arrested after her son led a violent mob to Chemase Police Station in Nandi County, where they stormed the facility, murdered a suspect, and vandalized the station.
According to reports, Carren Atieno Muga, a former nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA), was apprehended on Saturday.
Her son reportedly led the mob to the station, where they forcibly removed a suspect, stoned him to death, beheaded him, and mutilated his body by chopping off his private parts before setting his remains on fire.
The mob then returned to the police station, destroyed property, and set the station alight, leaving three officers injured in the process.
The gruesome incident followed a chain of events that started when a man named Victor Kimtai was lynched by the mob.
Kimtai had allegedly uncovered an organ-harvesting syndicate and was threatening to expose it. Fearing retaliation, he tried to flee, but the mob caught up with him.
His body was found dismembered, with his head discovered in a borehole and his private parts removed.
Following the violent incident, authorities launched an investigation and arrested Muga along the Chemelil-Miwani-Kisumu road.
Police have linked her to the organ-harvesting ring, as she is believed to be the mother of one of the main suspects in the murder of Kimtai.
Reports also suggest that she was attempting to escape the wrath of the public, who were enraged by the murder. Police seized her Toyota Harrier vehicle as evidence in the case.
The incident also led to the theft of police property, including the National and Kenya Police Service flags, which were later recovered by authorities.
The investigation is ongoing, with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Tinderet working to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the violence.
