Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga has issued a stern warning to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, urging him to cease making disrespectful remarks about President William Ruto.
Njenga’s statement comes amid rising tensions within Kenya’s political landscape, particularly concerning the Mount Kenya region’s leadership dynamics.
During a recent church service in Nyeri, Gachagua alleged that the government was utilizing Njenga to influence Mount Kenya residents in favor of the administration.
He stated, “We know Mr. Njenga is being directed by a senior government official. But we want to let you know that you cannot force people to like you. Maina Njenga will not help you.”
In response, Njenga, who had previously declared his support for President Ruto’s government, cautioned Gachagua against sowing discord and spreading falsehoods.
He emphasized the importance of unity and respect among leaders, particularly within the Mount Kenya region.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki also addressed the issue, criticizing Gachagua for his inflammatory statements.
Speaking at Kamumu Full Gospel Church in Embu County, Kindiki remarked, “Leadership is not about bragging; it’s about offering solutions.
When God blesses you with an opportunity to serve and you start abusing other leaders, that is wrong.”
The escalating war of words highlights the deepening rifts within Kenya’s political elite, with calls for mutual respect and constructive dialogue becoming increasingly urgent.
As the situation develops, the focus remains on how these leaders will navigate their differences to foster national unity and progress.
