Kuria Muchiru, the Group Board Chairman of Britam Holdings Plc, has passed away after a short illness, the company has confirmed.
In an official statement released on the evening of Thursday, March 19, Britam announced the sad news, describing his death as a major loss to the organization and the wider financial sector. The company expressed deep sorrow, noting that Muchiru died on the same day after battling a brief illness.
“The Board of Directors and Management of Britam Holdings PLC is saddened to announce the passing of our Group Board Chairman, Mr Kuria Muchiru, who passed away today, 19th March 2026, after a short illness,” the statement read.

Muchiru joined Britam Holdings Plc in August 2021, initially serving as a Non-Executive Director. Within a few months, he was appointed Chairman of the Board in December 2021, a role in which he quickly became a central figure in shaping the company’s direction.

He started his professional journey in 1983 at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), one of the world’s leading professional services firms. Over a period of about 35 years, he rose through the ranks, eventually taking on senior advisory roles.
During his time at PwC, he worked with a wide range of clients, including corporations, government institutions, and boards, offering guidance on financial management, governance, and strategy.

After leaving PwC, Muchiru transitioned into boardroom leadership, where he continued to make a strong impact.
