Gachagua Explains Why He Could Not Launch His Party on January 31st, Promises Big Announcement on February 9
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has opened up about the challenges that prevented him from making the much-anticipated announcement regarding his next political move on January 31, as he had earlier promised.
Speaking during a church service at Almighty God Ministries Church in Mathioya, Murang’a County, on Sunday, February 2, Gachagua apologized for the delay and explained why he could not keep his commitment.
“I had assured the people that by January 31, I would have gathered enough opinions and presented a clear political direction. Unfortunately, that did not happen, and I sincerely apologize for the delay,” he stated.
Gachagua revealed that he initially thought he only needed to consult with leaders and residents from the Mt. Kenya region. However, he was surprised when people from other communities across the country also expressed interest in his political plans. He explained that he could not ignore their voices, which contributed to the delay.
“I initially thought that I would only collect views from the people of the mountain region, but other communities also stepped forward to share their opinions. We could not shut them out because this is about the future of the country,” he added.
The former DP reassured his supporters that the long-awaited announcement would finally happen on Sunday, February 9. He promised to release a detailed interim report on his political direction, which will be broadcast on various popular radio stations to ensure that everyone is informed.
“On February 9, I will release an interim report through all radio stations. I will explain the views I have gathered from different people and what they want to be done moving forward,” he confirmed.
His statement has left many eagerly waiting to hear his next move, especially as political realignments continue to shape Kenya’s political landscape.
