Oscar Sudi Explains How Ruto Can Be Impeached

Oscar Sudi Explains How President Ruto Could Be Impeached

Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has openly stated that President William Ruto risks impeachment if he promotes divisive politics rooted in tribalism.

Speaking on Tuesday, February 4, Sudi warned that the country cannot afford to be dragged into tribal politics, as it would threaten national unity and development.

“If William Ruto starts engaging in tribal politics, we will not hesitate to impeach him and send him home,” Sudi declared.

The outspoken MP made these remarks while attending the funeral of Dwayne Mungai, a former employee at his entertainment joint.

He stressed that Kenya’s progress should not be hindered by divisive leadership and emphasized the importance of maintaining national operations to drive development.

A Direct Swipe at Gachagua?

Sudi appeared to be taking a dig at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who was impeached on multiple grounds, including allegations of fueling tribalism.

Being a close ally of President Ruto, Sudi underscored the need for unity among Kenyans and justified Gachagua’s removal from office.

“I want you to listen carefully. When you see me taking a strong stance against tribalism, know that there is a good reason behind it.

Many people still don’t understand why we had to impeach Gachagua, but one day, you will realize it was necessary. You cannot have a leader inciting Kenyans just to push a personal agenda,” Sudi explained.

He went on to question Gachagua’s impact on the country, noting that his removal had not halted government operations.

“Did most of you even know Gachagua five years ago? You only came to know him when he became Deputy President.

Now that he is out, has the country stopped functioning? The government is still operating. If we decide to remove Ruto, do you think the nation will collapse? Leadership should not be about individuals but about the country’s progress,” Sudi added.

Gachagua’s Controversial Impeachment

Rigathi Gachagua became the first sitting Deputy President to be impeached under Kenya’s 2010 Constitution after the Senate upheld a decision by the National Assembly to remove him from office. The impeachment was finalized on Thursday, October 17, following a special motion filed by Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse.

The motion listed 11 serious charges against Gachagua, including:

  • Insubordination to President Ruto
  • Inciting ethnic divisions
  • Corruption and abuse of office
  • Undermining government policies
  • Money laundering and other financial misconduct

Despite rejecting the allegations and dismissing the process as politically motivated, Gachagua was found guilty of five charges by the Senate. Under the law, only one guilty charge was required to remove him from office.

Sudi Questions Gachagua’s Development Record

During his speech, Sudi further criticized Gachagua’s leadership, arguing that he had failed to deliver tangible development during his tenure as Deputy President.

“From morning to evening, all he did was politics. He never focused on building anything meaningful. Gachagua was in office for two years, yet he has nothing to show.

I have been an MP for 12 years, and if you compare my development record to his, I have outperformed him 500 times!” Sudi claimed.

His remarks signal growing tensions within Kenya’s political landscape, as leaders continue to debate the direction of the country and the legacy of those in power.
