A family in Mogogosiek Village, Bomet County, is mourning the tragic loss of their son, Brian Moi, who was killed after an argument with a smokie vendor turned deadly.
According to the grieving family, the 20-year-old was stabbed to death after he was unable to pay Ksh25 for a boiled egg.
Speaking to reporters, the heartbroken family expressed their pain and demanded justice, insisting that their son’s death could have been prevented.
“I am devastated. My son was not sick; he was killed in a cruel and unnecessary manner. I want those responsible to face justice,” Moi’s distraught mother stated.
A friend who was with Moi during the incident recounted the heartbreaking events, explaining that the altercation started after Moi accidentally knocked over the vendor’s trolley.
“He had just left a pub, ate a boiled egg, and then mistakenly hit the vendor’s trolley. That’s when the vendor pulled out a knife and stabbed him. Losing a life over a boiled egg is beyond tragic,” the friend explained.
The police are still investigating the incident, and as of now, no justice has been served for the young man’s untimely death.
Similar Tragedy in Nakuru
Shockingly, a similar case was reported in the neighboring Nakuru County, where a man was beaten to death by a mob over allegations of stealing five avocados.
The victim, Geoffrey Kamau, a father of seven, lost his life after angry neighbors attacked him when he was caught trying to pick five avocados from a nearby farm.
Following the brutal beating, Kamau was rushed to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.
His devastated mother spoke out, demanding justice for her son.
“If it weren’t for that mob attack, my son would still be alive. The injuries he suffered on his head and legs were too severe,” she tearfully lamented.
Just like in Moi’s case, Kamau’s family is still waiting for justice as police continue their investigations.
