A 42-year-old Kenyan man, John Gitau Mwangi, has been arrested in Texas, United States, for allegedly shooting his wife multiple times at their home.

The Killeen Police Department reported that the victim, a 37-year-old Kenyan woman, suffered several gunshot wounds in the brutal attack. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine what led to the tragic incident.

According to police records, officers were called to the couple’s residence on Lakecrest Drive in Killeen on Friday, February 21, after receiving a request for a welfare check. Upon arrival, they found the woman with severe injuries from multiple gunshots.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene and did everything possible to save her life. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries two hours later while receiving medical attention. Police believe that the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute, clarifying that the suspect did not pose a threat to the general public.

At the time of the incident, the couple’s two children were inside the house. Fortunately, they were found unharmed by responding officers. Authorities also noted that the children appeared unaware of what had taken place.

The suspect, who is believed to be serving in the military, fled the scene immediately after the fatal shooting. In response, detectives from the Robbery-Homicide Unit obtained an arrest warrant and launched a manhunt to track him down.

Law enforcement officers later found and apprehended him at Fort Cavazos, the military base where he was stationed. He is currently being held at the Killeen City Jail as authorities prepare to file formal charges against him. If convicted, he could face life imprisonment or even the death penalty under Texas law.

This tragic incident comes just two months after another Kenyan man was arrested in the U.S. for allegedly killing his partner.

The victim’s dismembered body was discovered inside a vehicle after she had been missing for a week. Police in Delaware and Maryland conducted investigations that led to the suspect’s arrest, suggesting that the murder might have been linked to a love triangle.
