Peter Salasya Criticizes Raila After Being Kicked Out of Parliamentary Committee

Peter Salasya Criticizes Raila Odinga After Being Removed from Parliamentary Committee

Mumias East Member of Parliament, Peter Salasya, has launched a strong attack on ODM leader Raila Odinga just a day after he was removed from the National Assembly Committee on Regional Integration.

Taking to social media on Thursday, Salasya openly blamed Raila for the committee reshuffles, claiming that the ODM leader was behind the changes.

“I was taken off the Regional Integration Committee and reassigned to the Broadcasting and Library Services Committee, as well as Welfare and Food in the cafeteria.

Raila keeps telling people he is consulting, but in reality, he is just looking out for himself,” Salasya stated.

The outspoken MP further dismissed Raila’s past influence in Kenyan politics, arguing that times had changed.

“The era when Raila would cause tension and make people second-guess his political moves is over. There is no secret plan anymore—we know his game,” he added.

Salasya reflected on his time in the Azimio la Umoja coalition and accused Raila of only being interested in securing a seat at the table through negotiations with President William Ruto.

Aside from attacking Raila, Salasya also criticized the National Assembly, claiming that it had lost its independence and was now controlled by the executive.

However, he remained defiant, stating that being removed from a high-profile committee would not stop him from working for his people.

“I want to tell those MPs who think that taking us out of committees will slow us down—it won’t happen. I am a strategic planner,” he asserted.

“With the available CDF and proper management, we will still be among the top-performing constituencies in Kenya.”

Salasya concluded his statement by calling for constitutional reforms to eliminate political interference in committee appointments. He argued that such positions should be assigned based purely on merit.

Salasya was among several MPs who were affected by the reshuffle. Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro was also demoted from his powerful role as Chair of the Budget and Appropriations Committee and reassigned as an ordinary member.

Most of the lawmakers affected were known allies of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Some were moved to less influential committees, including Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, who was removed as Chairperson of the Constitutional Oversight and Implementation Committee and reassigned to the Members’ Services Committee.

Other MPs who faced similar demotions included Kipipiri MP Wanjiku Muhia, Embakasi North MP James Gakuya, and Kajiado North MP Onesmus Ngogoyo.
