A post-mortem examination on the body of British philanthropist Edgar Charles Frederick, who was fatally hit by President William Ruto’s motorcade, has uncovered shocking details suggesting he may have been run over multiple times.
The autopsy report confirmed that the 79-year-old British national died from severe injuries and multiple fractures. Pathologist Daniel Zuriel, who conducted the examination, stated that Edgar suffered extensive trauma, particularly to his head and chest.
“He sustained multiple traumatic injuries. His chest and head were severely damaged,” Zuriel explained. The pathologist further revealed that Edgar’s skull and ribcage had been completely crushed. Most of the injuries were concentrated on the left side of his body.
According to the findings, Edgar may have initially been struck by one vehicle before being run over by others in the convoy, leading to the devastating injuries that caused his death.
“The pattern of injuries suggests that his ribs on the left side were crushed, along with his hip and head. It is highly likely that he was run over entirely on the left side,” Zuriel added.
Edgar Had Come to Visit Family in Kenya
Further reports emerging on Friday indicated that Edgar had recently traveled to Kenya to visit his sister and nephew, who reside in the country.
The tragic accident occurred near Adams Arcade along Ngong Road while President Ruto’s convoy was on its way to a public function in Kibra.
Eyewitnesses at the scene said Edgar was trying to cross the road when he was hit by one of the vehicles in the convoy. Some reports suggest he may have been heading to a nearby mosque for prayers at the time of the accident.
Additionally, there are claims that Edgar may have had a hearing impairment, which could have made it difficult for him to hear the approaching vehicles, possibly contributing to the accident.
Government Driver Arrested and Released on Bail
Following the fatal incident, authorities arrested the driver of the government vehicle involved. The driver, who is attached to the Nairobi Regional Coordinator’s office, was later released on cash bail as investigations continue.
Police Spokesperson Michael Muchiri confirmed that Edgar’s family had been notified of his passing. Meanwhile, the British High Commission in Nairobi has been informed and is working closely with local authorities regarding the case.
Edgar’s remains are expected to be transported back to the United Kingdom, where he will be laid to rest.
