Drama unfolded in Karen after a man allegedly pulled out a gun on a woman who was demanding that he and other occupants vacate a house she claimed to own.
In a video seen by Newshub.co.ke, Mary Waithera Gikonyo arrived at the property armed with a court order, insisting that the tenants leave immediately.
However, her demands sparked a heated confrontation that quickly attracted the attention of neighbors and passersby.
Waithera stood her ground, declaring that she was the rightful owner of the house and had legal documents to prove it. However, one of the tenants, a visibly agitated man, refused to leave.
As the argument escalated, the man, shouting angrily at Waithera, attempted to draw a gun from his waist.
The tense moment caused panic, and Waithera screamed, alerting those nearby. “He has a gun!” she shouted as police officers on the scene rushed to intervene before the situation could turn violent.
Determined to reclaim the property, Waithera continued to assert her ownership rights. “This is my house, and I have every right to be here!” she insisted, addressing the crowd that had gathered.
As police tried to de-escalate the situation, Waithera accused the tenant of using threats and intimidation tactics to block her from occupying her property.
She claimed that she had been engaged in a long legal battle over the house, but despite the court ruling in her favor, the occupants refused to vacate.
According to her, the tenants had allegedly been leveraging their connections to powerful government officials to hold on to the property unlawfully.
On the other hand, the man in question stood his ground, arguing that he, too, had a right to be in the house. He showed no signs of budging, despite Waithera’s insistence that the court order gave her full authority to take possession of the home.
The dispute, rooted in unresolved ownership claims, has left both parties locked in a bitter struggle for control of the property.
While Waithera presented court documents as proof of her ownership, the tenant remained defiant, refusing to acknowledge her claims.
The intense standoff and the allegations of political connections deepened the complexity of the case, making it difficult for authorities to enforce the eviction order immediately.
With tensions running high and the confrontation escalating, Waithera was eventually forced to leave without reclaiming the house as she had planned.
This dramatic incident highlights the challenges that many individuals face in property ownership battles.
Legal disputes over real estate often become highly emotional, and in some cases, they take a dangerous turn when attempts to resolve the matter peacefully fail.
