Popular Kenyan News Anchor Shiksha Arora Cast in Upcoming Netflix Film
Shiksha Arora, a well-known news anchor from TV47, has landed a role in a new Netflix movie titled Inside Job.
The exciting news was revealed by the journalist herself through her Instagram page, where she shared that she had been approached by a casting director in January 2024 with an opportunity to audition — something she had never done before. Fortunately, she nailed the audition and secured the role.
The film, which is expected to premiere on June 14, 2025, will feature several other familiar Kenyan faces including popular actresses Jacky Vike and Eunice Mammito. Shiksha expressed her joy and gratitude in a heartfelt Instagram post, writing:
“Your girl is going to be on Netflix! In January 2024, I received a call asking me to audition for a movie — something completely new to me.
I gave it a shot, got the part, and now I get to be in a movie! In just a few days, we’re premiering on Netflix! I’m officially adding ‘supporting actress’ to my resume. Mark your calendars for Inside Job – June 14th, 2025.”
The film is directed by renowned Kenyan filmmaker Tosh Gitonga, and also stars Elyas Moshkwani and Irene Kariuki.
The official movie poster comes with a cheeky tagline: “Crime pays… and these girls are broke,” suggesting the plot revolves around a high-stakes adventure involving some bold female characters.
In addition to her role as a news presenter, Shiksha is widely recognized as a digital content creator and social media influencer. She often shares lively dance videos across her Instagram and TikTok platforms.
These clips typically show her dancing with a variety of people from her everyday encounters — whether it’s friends, colleagues, or even high-profile guests she interviews.
One of her most notable pinned videos is a fun dance session in Times Square, New York, alongside popular American weather presenter Nick Kosir.
Her lively and engaging online presence has earned her a strong following, and many fans have praised her for bringing joy and entertainment through her content. Her transition into acting is seen as a natural extension of her charismatic on-screen presence.
Shiksha is not the only journalist branching out into acting. Fellow media personality Mariam Bishar from NTV was also announced as part of the main cast of MTV Shuga Mashariki.
The announcement came in March 2025, ahead of the series’ much-anticipated return. Bishar, who co-hosts the Fixing The Nation morning show on both NTV and Nation FM, shares the stage with other big names like Eric Latiff and Janet Mbugua.
These developments mark a growing trend where Kenyan journalists are using their platforms and popularity to explore other forms of entertainment, especially film and television.
With more media professionals crossing into acting, the local film industry continues to thrive with fresh talent and familiar faces.
