Gachagua Donates Ksh 1,000 at Sudi’s Economic Empowerment Drive in Kapseret
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua surprised many by donating Ksh 1,000 during an economic empowerment event held in Kapseret, Uasin Gishu County.
The event was organized by Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi and was attended by President William Ruto along with several high-ranking government officials who contributed millions of shillings to the program.
The empowerment drive was designed to uplift small-scale business owners, especially women running informal businesses like vegetable stalls (commonly known as mama mboga) and young people working in the boda boda (motorcycle taxi) sector.
Through this initiative, beneficiaries receive not only cash support but also essential business tools and equipment aimed at helping them expand their enterprises, create job opportunities, and improve their overall standard of living.
While Gachagua’s modest contribution stood in sharp contrast to the large donations made by others in the executive, it sparked conversations online, with some seeing it as a symbolic act, while others criticized it given his previous high-ranking status in government.
Regardless, the program’s core goal remains to support ordinary Kenyans by enabling them to grow financially and become self-reliant through entrepreneurship.
