A Form Two student from a national high school lost her life in a heartbreaking accident after being run over by the school’s bus during a school function.

According to early reports, the tragic incident occurred when the bus, which was parked on a slope, suddenly started rolling downhill after suffering a brake failure.

The student, along with a few others, was caught in its path. The bus, reportedly left insecurely parked, moved uncontrollably and hit the students.

Eyewitnesses claim that the student was unfortunately trapped under the bus’s wheel, and her skull was crushed in the process. She died on the spot due to the severe injuries.

The accident took place at another school where the student had gone with others from her school to attend an inter-school event, commonly referred to as a “funkie.”

The bus involved in the accident was said to have had known mechanical problems, especially with its braking system. Multiple warnings about the vehicle’s poor condition had reportedly been made to the school’s administration, but the issue had allegedly been overlooked.

The tragedy has sparked public outrage, with many blaming the school for negligence. Some stakeholders and individuals close to the school community have accused the administration of attempting to cover up the incident.

They claim that after the accident, efforts were made to minimize its impact and avoid accountability.

There are also unconfirmed claims that students who witnessed the horrifying scene were not given the psychological support or medical care they needed.

Allegedly, the administration tried to manage the situation quietly without attracting attention or concern from the public and parents.

However, realizing the matter was escalating, the school principal eventually reached out to parents. In an official message, the principal confirmed the death of the student and acknowledged the accident.

The message also stated that three other students sustained injuries during the incident but were treated and later discharged.

The school assured parents that the families of the affected students had been contacted and promised to continue sharing updates as more information becomes available.

Preparations for the student’s final journey are already underway. A requiem mass is being held today at her school, while her burial is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 7.

This deeply saddening incident has left the school community in mourning and has raised serious questions about student safety, vehicle maintenance, and the handling of school-related emergencies.
