Juja MP George Koimburi Speaks Out Weeks After Alleged Abduction
Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi has finally broken his silence, sharing chilling details about his alleged abduction, which happened several weeks ago.
His disappearance stirred heated discussions across Kenya’s political landscape, with speculation growing over whether the incident was genuine or possibly staged.
Koimburi, speaking from his hospital bed, firmly denied claims that he had faked the incident. He confirmed that he had indeed been abducted and described the terrifying experience he went through.
He narrated that the incident took place on May 25, shortly after he had attended a church service at Full Gospel Churches of Kenya. As he was leaving the church, a group of unknown men suddenly ambushed him. “It was May 25.
I had just finished attending a church service and was leaving the compound when I was intercepted by unknown people. They covered my eyes and forced some drug into my nose,” Koimburi recounted emotionally.
According to him, the attack left him unconscious, and most of what happened next remains unclear in his memory.
“When I woke up the following day, I found myself lying in a coffee plantation. I was weak and confused. Luckily, a boda boda rider came to my rescue. He was kind enough to contact my family, who rushed to the scene and took me to the hospital,” he explained.
Koimburi used the opportunity to strongly condemn not only his own abduction but also the growing number of forced disappearances and cases of torture reported across the country.
He said that having now experienced it himself, he understands how terrifying such incidents are. He urged the government to take the issue of security and abductions more seriously.
“I want to appeal to all Kenyans to continue praying for our nation. I also call on the government to act swiftly and ensure that such cases are stopped. We should not allow those behind these cruel acts to move around freely and harm more people,” Koimburi stated.
His alleged kidnapping has drawn widespread attention and controversy, especially after Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja dismissed the claims, accusing Koimburi of orchestrating the incident for political mileage.
Police investigations, which included questioning three individuals connected to the case, reportedly uncovered inconsistencies in the MP’s story, leading authorities to doubt the authenticity of the alleged abduction.
According to police, Koimburi—who is closely allied with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua—may have faked the incident to spark political drama and increase tensions in the country.
They questioned why a sitting MP would go to such lengths to stage-manage a disappearance, especially when the country is already facing several pressing issues.
Despite the conflicting narratives, Koimburi’s statement has reignited serious discussions about Kenya’s security situation, the rising trend of enforced disappearances, and the urgent need for a credible, thorough investigation into his case and others like it.
Many Kenyans are now calling on the relevant authorities to leave no stone unturned and bring the truth to light, whether it confirms the MP’s version or not.
